Uranium Feasibility Studies

Madaouela Uranium Project - feasibility and environmental studies

GoviEx Uranium Inc is a growing Africa-focused uranium company, with two mining licensed projects: Madaouela in Niger and Mutanga in Zambia. GoviEx’s flagship operation is the fully environmental and mine permitted project in North Central Niger. The operation is located approximately 10 km south east of Orano’s mining operations at Cominak and Somair, and provides good infrastructure access to roads, skilled mine labour, ground water, and grid power. Since 2009, SRK UK has led several studies that have assisted the operation in proving up reserves in the ground and obtaining a mine and environmental permit. SRK completed an integrated development plan in 2015 to a prefeasibility level of confidence. SRK UK led the study and headed up a global team to successfully complete the project, with all aspects covered off by Global SRK CPs and processing design provided by SGS Bateman. The project is located on the edge of the Sahara desert so particular attention was directed at reducing the water supply requirements for the operation, through optimisation of the processing circuit and minimising waste. SRK successfully completed the environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) in 2015, with the assistance of a local consulting partner (LEGENI) for the completion of in-country social and environmental baseline studies. In September 2018, SRK UK was appointed by GoviEx Uranium Inc to head up the feasibility study for the Madaouela Project. SRK UK led a global SRK team to complete the following aspects for the project: project management, geology, geotechnical engineering, mining, metallurgy and process design review, tailings and waste disposal, hydrogeology, environmental and social, infrastructure and power, and economics. SRK worked with SGS who covered the processing elements, including the metallurgical testing, pilot plant testwork and process plant design, with the QP for the metallurgy and processing covered by SRK.
